Circulation Services

Books, magazines and audio books can be checked out of the Library for two weeks. Items that do not have reserve lists may be renewed twice, for a total of six weeks. Fines on these items are 10 cents per item per day.

DVDs and Blu-Rays are loaned out for one week and cannot be renewed. Fines on these materials are $2.00 per item per day.

Items requested via interlibrary loan are subject to a 25 cent per day fine. Only five interlibrary loan items may be ordered at one time. Interlibrary loan items cannot be renewed.

Our Library participates in reciprocal borrowing and will honor library cards from any other public library in Illinois with that library's permission. Litchfield Public Library District is a member of Illinois Heartland Library System but does not participate in its SHARE consortium. 

Reference Assistance

The Library offers basic reference service for its patrons. Questions may be submitted via telephone, email, or by coming into the Library for assistance.

Notary, FAX and Copy Services

The Libary Director is a certified Illinois notary public. Documents may be notarized at no charge if they meet the requirements deemed necessary. Driver's license or other photo ID must be presented at the time.

The Library offers a public FAX machine. Charges for a FAX are $1.00 per page sent or received. Unclaimed FAXs will be saved for seven (7) days before being destroyed.

The Library offers a public copy machine. Regular copies (B&W) are $   .25 each. 

Community Spaces in the Library

The Library offers meeting spaces for the public. Two small study rooms are available with reservations or on a first come first serve basis. The Mary Wallace room seats nine people around an expansive board table. The Ross and Mary Lay Community Room is available for a small rental fee and seats up to 100 people. Tables, chairs, LCD projector, and refrigerator are included with the use of the Lay room. Televisions may be requested. Contact the Library for more information on renting the Lay Community Room.
