Within the next few months, look for BIG CHANGES to the Library's genealogy section!
Big Change #1 -- Ancestry.com will be available for public use from the Library's Jackson-Walker Genealogy Room. This collection of thousands of searchable collections of records from around the world will soon be available in Litchfield! Search US Cenus records; birth, death and marriage records ; Immigration & Emigration Records ; Military Records and much, much more with this comprehensive genealogy database!
Big Change #2 -- Litchfield newspapers will be converted from microform to digital! Simply click on the year you would like to browse. All information will be on a computer. No more microfilm readers!
Big Change #3 -- Two additonal computers in the Jackson-Walker Room. A dedicated compuer for Ancestry.com access, and another for searching digital newspaper archives. These computers are in addition to the existing computer, which houses the Walter Sanders Collection and the local cemetery records, which were digitized two years ago.
We hope you will enjoy these changes to our Jackson-Walker Genealogy Room! All updates should be available by the first of the year. The Jackson-Walker room WILL BE closed for 4 - 6 weeks while the microfilm is being converted, so please call ahead if you plan on visiting our Library for this purpose!
